11gR2 Installed and Looking Good

Just a quick post to express my excitement about having 11gR2 up and running on a 8 disk ASM configuration including an ACFS mount point… Some people play with their Wii, I’m happy with an Oracle database and *nix OS!

Is that so wrong?

I particularly like the new installer, but then again I’ve only just started by 11gR2 experience… ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. when i install oracle 11g r2 in linux in install part some error like

    /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/owb/external/oc4j_applications/applications/WFMLRSVCApp.ear

and in this directory there many files not found error is came.

  2. The installation package for Oracle 11g R2 consist of two separate zip files. You have to download them both and unzip to common directory. I think you forgot to download second zip of unzipped the second part to a different catalog than first package.

  3. Hi all!

I have the same issue. This tips on main dowload page are helped me ๐Ÿ™‚
    Directions
    1. All files are in the .zip format. There is an unzip utility here if you need one.
    2. Download and unzip both files to the same directory.

  4. Hi Anand,

    1) Have you verified the checksum for both files you’ve downloaded with that listed on the download page?
    2) What platform are you installing on?
    3) At what point during the installation do the errors arise?

I’ve not hit the problem so I can only guess at this point, but I have heard of people having similar sounding issues as a result of problems unzipping the downloads (which were not reported during the unzip).

  5. Hi,

I had this very same issue (“unable to extract …. ear and war files”) during an install and it was resolved by unzipping both files into the same directory and starting the install afresh.

  6. I got the same problem, but I found that if you start unzip linux_11gR2_database_1of2.zip it is not enough like on windows system, you can check the database folder properties and confirm that it is only 1.4 gb,
You should unzip second file ether, then check the database folder again it will 2.4gb.
Now you good and could start to install your DB.
